ABOUT THE DESIGN / This is our Deseret State logo overlaid on the 1846 hand-drawn map of the boundaries of the proposed State of Deseret. Of course that version of the state never came to fruition, and the name changed to Utah instead of Deseret. The US Congress didn't ratify Utah as a state until 50 years later, in 1896.
